MISSION

THREAD brings the
therapeutic power of
creative expression to individuals and
communities living in and with trauma.

THREAD strives to address and alleviate the unrelenting presence of trauma in our world. Through our arts centered and therapeutic workshops, we foster connection and healing within people and communities by transforming individual and collective trauma into original works of art.

We serve adult communities affected by trauma both event-based and systemic. Our work serves the needs of survivors of abuse, those struggling with addiction and mental health, cancer survivors, incarcerated men and women, veterans and those impacted by inequality and discrimination of any kind. We also implement programs to address the urgent needs of communities affected by gun violence, natural disasters and other crisis scenarios.

WHY THREAD, WHY NOW?

Levels of trauma are rising in both individuals and communities, creating an urgent health crisis. In our current global climate, people are not only struggling with their own underlying chronic trauma, but are also being re-triggered on a daily basis in response to the challenges of this time in history.

THREAD offers accessible, creative ways to process, heal and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.

WHO, WHAT, HOW

THREAD has gathered Board Certified Arts Therapists, Teaching Artists, and Music Producers, as well as Innovators, Philanthropists and Humanitarians to inspire a global conversation about the power of the Arts to serve as a catalyst for change, for healing and for connection though our shared stories.

Through the mediums of Songwriting, Recording, and Spoken Word, THREAD uses the Arts as an individual and collective tool. THREAD facilitates workshops, projects, Arts residencies and group work to guide participants through a creative and therapeutic process, opening positive channels for expression, healing and connection.

Original works of Art created by THREAD participants are shared in virtual and live performance events, audio/video recordings to benefit, inspire and empower individuals and communities.
